„Thicket of Lies“ out now!

"Thicket of Lies" out on all Music streaming platfoms today

I am very happy to announce that my second ever single „Thicket of Lies“ is out on all platforms today. This song marks a departure from the lighter folk-pop sound of my debut single „Behind this window“.

Thicket of Lies is about feeling unseen, about feeling like your work goes unnoticed. The song deals with the topic of becoming disenchanted when you notice how much of social interactions are just tactics.

It’s about looking for human connection and finding mostly lies. It’s told from the perspective of someone watching people playing games, like office politics to get ahead in life, in their jobs. And how those people are being rewarded for presenting a disingenuous but successful front. And the observer who refuses to engage in such games stays in the shadows.

In a thicket of lies.

But… can you even trust the narrator?

I wanted Thicket of Lies to sound dark and murky as it deals with the shadier sides of human interactions and taps into a part of the emotional spectrum that we often prefer to hide.

The song is drawing influences from dark americana and gothic country and nestles in quite comfortably somewhere in middle between songs like “My Least Favourite Life“  by Lera Lynn and “Black Soul Choir” by 16 Horsepower, with its organic, homemade vibe thanks to the use of acoustic instruments such and a range of percussion instruments.

I had a very clear idea of the kind of vibe I wanted the song to have and my producer Dan Billu was able to transform my idea into a very exciting, atmospheric and almost etheral sound. And Ran Jacobovitz was able to create some absolute  percussion magic in his studio.

Thicket of Lies is the second single from YENI and part of her upcoming DEBUT EP, which will be released later this year.
